Everyone in Texas now understands that water is critical to the future. Ranch owners and operators have known this for decades. As water grows more scare in rural Texas, the changing rules of water policy and regulation have to be understood. The framework around surface water and groundwater supplies is evolving–rapidly. Yes, its hard to follow and can dull the mind. But landowners are all at a poker table with experienced players. You have to know the rules if you want to stay at that table. Here is an overview of current policy issues that we gave to a ranching group in central Texas recently. And no one fell asleep.
